This video shows creating simple footprints within the module editor in KiCad. Using this tool you can input components that do not use standard footprints (especially good for connectors). This is in addition to all of the standard footprints chosen in Part 4 of the Getting To Blinky tutorial (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmUqR5L2ghw). At the end of this video you will have all the footprints necessary to start the layout of your PCB.

“Getting To Blinky” is a multi-part series that shows you all the steps necessary to move your project off the screen or breadboard and onto a PCB. The videos will show you how to use KiCad, a cross-platform and open source piece of software. The finished product of this video series will be a PCB you can purchase and build. Oh, and it will blink.
